Meso-Tox

Meso-Tox Treatment in Singapore

Botox and microneedling are two separate treatments that can be combined for glowing and younger-looking skin. This combination is called Meso-Tox or “Botox Facial”. It is an innovative skin rejuvenating technique that can make the skin appear smoother and brighter, with tighter pores and less sebum.

So, what is Meso-Tox?

The treatment involves using a microneedling device (like Dermapen 4) and delivering small doses of botulinum toxin or Botox into the surface layers of the skin. The process of skin needling creates micro-traumas, stimulating collagen and delivering beneficial ingredients deep into the layers.

Botox  is mainly used to treat the skin, but since the injections are shallow, it does not fully affect the muscles. There is still muscle movement or facial expressions. With this treatment, Botox is not used for erasing wrinkles, but for improving the overall quality of the skin. This has a pore-tightening effect and helps reduce sebum production.

The combination of both treatments helps take years off your face, creating a refreshed and rejuvenated appearance. It can help address the following concerns:

  • Uneven skin tone and texture
  • Enlarged pores
  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Dull complexion
  • Mild skin laxity

What is microneedling (Dermapen 4)?

Microneedling uses an automated skin needling device (Dermapen 4) to vertically pierce the top layer of the skin (1920 holes). It causes micro-injuries and micro-trauma, which induces an immune response in the body. This activates the healing function of the skin and helps stimulate the production of new collagen.

The microneedling device also creates millions of fine fractional channels. This enables the skin to carry up to 80% more active ingredients deeper into its layers. It provides overall skin renewal, making it effective for addressing a wide range of skin concerns, such as:

  • Scarring
  • Wrinkles
  • Enlarged pores
  • Pigmentation
  • Loose skin

At Cutis Medical Laser Clinics, we use the Dermapen 4 device, which features an advanced and innovative microneedling technology. It is also the only device with a dedicated scar setting and protocols for revision of deep and atrophic scars. It also has dedicated serums (MG-Collection) exclusively designed for microneedling. This elevates the results of the treatment.

What is Botox?

Botox is the most popular brand of botulinum toxin product in the market. It works by blocking the signal from a nerve to a muscle, which then softens and relaxes the wrinkles. It uses a neurotoxin protein (called botulinum toxin), which temporarily paralyzes the muscles responsible for lines and wrinkles.

Botox is FDA-approved for treating:

  • Frown lines
  • Forehead wrinkles
  • Fine lines around the eyes (crow’s feet)

In traditional Botox treatments, the product is injected into a muscle to weaken it and smooth facial wrinkles. It can take about two weeks to see the full results. With Meso-Tox, however, Botox is delivered at an intradermal level.

Why combine microneedling with Botox?

When used together, Botox and microneedling provide a range of facial improvements. Dermapen 4 microneedling is known to improve collagen and elastin production, which helps make the skin thicker and more elastic. Botox, on the other hand, can improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, reduce sebum production, and decrease pore size.

FAQs

What does the treatment involve?

The treatment starts with cleansing the skin and applying a numbing cream about 30 minutes before the procedure. Then, the Dermapen device is gently moved across the skin, creating micro-injuries and fine fractional channels.
Botox is mixed with a MG serum and used as a glide for the micro needling treatment. Through this technique, the active ingredients of Botox is infused into the top layers of the skin. There are also instances where other serums (or beneficial ingredients) may be applied over the fine fractional channels created by the Dermapen needles.

What are the benefits of combining Botox and Dermapen 4 microneedling?

As previously mentioned, the combination of these two treatments delivers various skin benefits. These include:

  • Fewer wrinkles or improved wrinkle appearance
  • Reduced oil production and pore size
  • Improved skin redness (or flushing)
  • Tightened skin
  • Lower risk of discoloration, bruising, and infection from other procedures
  • ‘Glass’ like glowing skin

Who are the ideal candidates?

The treatment is ideal for patients who want to improve their skin’s overall tone and texture, as well as improve moderate signs of aging. You can also turn to this treatment if you are considering Botox, but are worried about looking fake or frozen.
It is mostly suitable for patients of all skin types and complexions, but it is not recommended for those who are pregnant or breastfeeding and have a skin infection or open wound in the treatment area. Contact us today to find out if you are an ideal candidate for Meso-Tox.
