SHR, Laser, and LHE Hair Removal Treatments
SHR Hair Removal
SHR, which stands for “Super Hair Removal”, is a light technology that provides safe, faste, and pain-free hair reduction treatment. It is neither a laser nor an IPL (intense pulsed light) procedure, but a relatively newer technology that uses lower and gentler pulses of energy at a higher frequency.
Super Hair Removal is a method developed by Alma Lasers, a global innovator of energy-based solutions for the medical and aesthetics market. This technology is ideal for all skin and hair types, especially Asian ones. It uses 50% of the energy to target the pigment and the other 50% to target the stem cells responsible for hair growth.
How does SHR work?
SHR combines low fluence laser pulses and contact cooling, making the experience more comfortable for the patient. It uses concentrated light beams that target and heat the pigment (or melanin in the hair) and the stem cells, destroying the follicles with gradual heat buildup.
One thing that makes SHR different from laser and IPL methods is that it scans the treatment area instead of delivering high-intensity energy shots to the skin. It gradually heats the site with a repetitive application of high average power and low fluence energy until the follicle is damaged and destroyed.
Another notable difference is that it uses the comfortable In-Motion technique. This means that instead of the handpiece being held still, the applicator is moved around which enables gradual heat-buildup for increased patient comfort.
SHR also uses AFT™ or Advanced Fluorescence Technology, which is a light filter that converts unnecessary or unused wavelengths into useful energy. This then allows the delivery of low energy into the hair follicles, resulting in a virtually pain-free and effective treatment.
Cutera® Laser Hair Reduction
The Cutera CoolGlide Laser Hair Removal is a great treatment to remove unwanted hair permanently.
The CoolGlide lasers deliver 21st century technology for permanent hair reduction that lasts longer. It is the best laser hair removal system on the market for all skin types and tones, from light to darker skin, including tanned patients.
How It Works
The CoolGlide lasers effectively treats an area in just seconds as it delivers light energy to hundreds of hair follicles in a large area.
The difference of CoolGlide laser hair removal from other laser treatments is that it has longer wavelength, and innovative cooling design, allow extremely effective, safe and permanent results.
LHE™ Hair Reduction
LHE® hair removal technology harnesses the healing energies of both light and heat. This enables the use of lower fluence (light energy) levels and increases the safety margin, especially for darker and more sensitive skin types.
Touch Elite with LHE® technology maintains the highest level of efficacy, making it an industry standard for safety and performance. It is affordable and the fastest advance permanent hair removal solution.
How LHE Technology Works
Flashes of broad spectrum light and heat are applied to the target area. Light is drawn to the melanin in the hair, raising the temperature of the hair follicle. Heat energy from the lamp is conducted down the hair shaft, increasing the hair follicle temperature. The combined energies of light and heat result in the destruction of the hair follicle.
A single session of Touch Elite with LHE can take around 30 minutes or more depending on how many areas are needed to be treated.
It is non-ablative, fast, no downtime, and relatively painless.
What are the benefits of SHR technology?
- Gentler on the skin (than standard laser or IPL treatments)
- Can be used on tanned skin and patients with darker skin type
- Can treat finer and lighter hairs
- Faster and virtually pain-free
- Can target stem cells responsible for hair growth
What are the treatable areas?
Almost any area can be treated. These include the:
- Face (beard, upper lip)
- Brazilian / Boyzilian
Is SHR safe?
SHR is safe for all skin types and can treat all types of hair. It also causes less discomfort and skin irritation than typical IPL treatments.
SHR could be used on tanned skin, but we strongly recommend that you don’t undergo tanning at the time or during your treatment. SHR can also be used on lighter colored (blonde and gray) hairs, but may need more sessions for optimal results.
Is the procedure painful??
SHR uses a low-heat setting and In-Motion technology, which contributes to a more comfortable hair reduction treatment. The low and gentle pulses of energy also help in keeping skin trauma and discomfort at a minimum.
Do the treated hair follicles grow back?
Treated hair follicles in the active growth stage are permanently damaged and should not grow back. Do take note, however, that follicles that were not in the said stage will still have to be treated. There are also instances where patients can see fine hairs after the initial treatment due to hormonal fluctuations (in pregnancy, menopause, stress, or changes in medications). Touch-up treatments are recommended.
What can you expect after the procedure?
Keep in mind that as hair grows in various cycles, repeat treatments are needed to effectively disable the hair growth. The number of sessions required will also vary from patient to patient. Some of the factors that can affect the results and the number of treatments needed include:
- Hair color (light hairs will require more sessions)
- Hair volume and thickness
- Skin tone
- Treatment sites or areas
- Hormones (or medications)
How many SHR treatments do I need?
The recommended number of treatments is between 6 and 10 eight sessions (at intervals of 4 to 8 weeks). This is to effectively target and disable hairs in the active growth stage. Those who have hormonal imbalances may need more sessions.
Why Choose Cutis for Hair Removal
