What are Dermal Fillers?
As we age, our skin becomes saggy, wrinkled and dry causing different skin problems such as unwanted lines and folds starting from our face all the way to our body.
Nowadays, dermal fillers are considered one of the best known treatments in restoring the skin’s youthfulness and elasticity. Dermal fillers are injectable gels that may be used to enhance cheekbones, plump up the lips, define the chin, contour the face, decrease the appearance of fine lines and reduce dark circles and to overall give a rejuvenated and well-rested look.
There are different types of dermal fillers.
- Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a substance that is also present in our body. HA is responsible for the firmness and suppleness of the skin. Dermal fillers that are based on HA are used to restore volume and structure that the skin loss over time. Hyaluronic fillers can be used to improve fine lines, nasolabial folds and eye bags. Fillers can also add volume in the cheeks, fill the lips as well as to augment the chin and increase the height of the nose bridge without surgery. The result can be seen immediately as the skin looks firmer and rejuvenated.
- Poly-L-Lactic Acid helps to replace lost collagen. It helps correct shallow to deep facial wrinkles, and folds, that appear with aging by replacing lost collagen. Dermal filler such as Sculptra® is a new type of facial injectable made from poly-L-lactic acid. Sculptra® fillers help to replace lost collagen and give subtle but gradual results. Giving you a more natural-looking appearance. Sculptra is most appropriate where there is overall volume loss on the face and several sessions may be required.
- Calcium-based microspheres are fillers are similar to minerals found naturally in the body so allergy testing is not required. Over time, the body absorbs the microspheres and gel, leaving behind only natural collagen. Radiesse® Volumizing Filler is made of tiny calcium-based microspheres suspended in a water-based gel. Radiesse® plumps the skin and replenishes volume lost over time for a more refreshed look. Radiesse can be used to improve lines on the face, add volume to the cheeks as well as to fill the lips and nasolabial folds. The result can be seen immediately.
How does Dermal Fillers work?
It works by injecting the gel in the problem areas in which it fills up the gap caused by unwanted lines and folds.
Liquid Lift is a special technique for injecting advanced dermal fillers to lift and contour facial features. This results in a gentle natural lift of overall facial features, reducing lines and wrinkles, improving eyebags or “tear troughs”, restoring a natural curved facial contour, and giving you a more rested energetic look. Special advanced fillers such as Juvederm® Voluma, Restylane® SubQ and Radiesse® will be used to lift or contour any number of facial features.
The treatment takes about 30-60 minutes depending on the amount of filler required, and the result can be seen instantly. Since filler is non-surgical there’s no recovery time needed. Aside from improving lines and creating a lift, these fillers can also be used as a non-surgical replacement for nose lift/ nose enhancement and chin augmentation.
