Dr. Sylvia Ramirez

Dr Sylvia RamirezDr. Sylvia Ramirez is the Medical and Scientific Director of Cutis Medical Laser Clinics in Singapore. She has over 20 years’ experience in aesthetic medicine, chronic disease epidemiology, nephrology, and transplantation both in the United States and internationally.

Aesthetic Medicine

Dr. Ramirez undertook extensive training in aesthetic medicine and completed a degree in Dermatology from Cardiff University. She was also the regional trainer for Cutera, Inc. lasers and light devices used for aesthetic treatments.

Dr. Sylvia Ramirez also completed a specialized Physician Training and Certification in Age Management Medicine, jointly sponsored by Cenegenics Education and Research Foundation (CERF) and the Foundation for Care Management (FCM), USA and has been certified in Age Management Medicine by the Cenegenics Education and Research Foundation (AMMERF), USA.

In addition, Dr. Ramirez graduated in 2018 with Distinction from the Master of Science – Non-Surgical Facial Aesthetics by the Anglia Ruskin University, UK. The program allows practitioners to remain at the forefront of the latest technologies and techniques in order to deliver the highest level of patient satisfaction and safety.

She continues her education through master classes in various aspects of aesthetic and age management medicine. She continues to be featured in numerous articles, including Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, Expat Living, and continues to publish not just in the field of aesthetic medicine but also in the field of chronic disease care.

The combination of her training and emphasis on quality evidence-based medicine led her to focus her approach and philosophy of rigorous research-proven services in the field of aesthetic and age management medicine. With the same philosophy of proven, effective, and safe treatments, Dr. Ramirez started Cutis Medical Laser Clinics where she has remained Medical and Scientific Director.

Dr. Ramirez is particularly recognized for her attention to detail, evidence-based approach, where the patient comes first.

Aesthetic Awards and Recognitions

Dr. Ramirez has received several accolades from different award-giving bodies, locally and internationally. The recent and past recognitions are a testament to her commitment to ongoing work, education, and research in providing quality aesthetic services.

Dr. Ramirez won the Best Non-Surgical Facial Rejuvenation Award  in the AMWC (Aesthetic Medicine World Congress) in 2022.  This is a prestigious annual competition in MonteCarlo, Monaco, that hosts one of the largest medical conferences in the field of Aesthetic Medicine.  Her case submission was entitled  “Combination Treatments for Facial Rejuvenation in a 68-year old woman”  featuring treatments that included injectables, skin quality procedures and skin tightening.  Dr. Ramirez’s case was selected by judges from all around the world as The Best out of over 1000 submissions from over 60 countries.  This was the hottest contested category, with finalists hailing from Brazil, France, Italy, UK and the USA.   In addition, her case submission  for body contouring was selected as top three in the Best Non-Surgical Body Contouring category.

Dr. Ramirez has also received the Gold Award for Best Medical Aesthetic Specialist for three consecutive years (2020-2022) in the Expat Living Reader’s Choice Awards. Cutis Medical Laser Clinics has also been a recipient of several awards for the past years in different categories, including Best Facials, Best Aesthetic Treatments, Best Slimming and Shaping Treatments, and others.

In addition, Dr. Ramirez, along with Cutis Medical Laser Clinics, has received the Highest Ultherapy Achiever Award 2021 for Singapore. The clinic has also been awarded  2nd Runner Up for Highest Achievement Ultherapy Transducers Asia Pacific Category B. The Golden Record Award honours outstanding and top-performing Ultherapy partner clinics globally.

Dr. Ramirez and her clinic were also a recipient of multiple awards from Allergan Aesthetics, the makers of innovative aesthetic products including facial injectables and body contouring (Botox, Juvéderm, and CoolSculpting). She and Cutis were awarded the:

Moreover, Dr. Ramirez’s expertise in non-invasive fat reduction is one of the main reasons Cutis has been selected by Allergan as the CoolSculpting Training Centre in Singapore. This means that the clinic has completed a rigorous training and certification process to ensure that patients will receive a customized plan that suits their needs and concerns and achieve optimal results.

Aesthetic Scientific Papers 

Dr. Ramirez has authored several scientific papers on non-invasive and non-surgical aesthetic procedures. She published two original research papers in 2022 in the Clinical, Cosmetic and Investigational Dermatology, an international, peer-reviewed, open-access journal, and PubMed.gov, the official website of the US National Library of Medicine (National Institutes of Health).

Dr. Ramirez has conducted research and clinical trials, as well as given lectures on topics including cosmetic injectables and non-invasive face lifting. She is a Key Opinion Leader for Allergan and a speaker at international lectures and meetings, as well as one of the trusted sources to discuss aesthetics and answer questions regarding beauty and anti-aging

Her Asia Pacific Lecture on “Clinical Differentiation of Botulinum Toxin A Preparations” has been featured in the Allergan Aesthetics newsletter and was given to aesthetic doctors in Asia Pacific

She had also been invited to talks and lectures at different conferences, including the Society of Aesthetic Medicine (Singapore), the Aesthetic Medicine and Surgery Conference (AMSC), and The Malaysian Society of Aesthetics (MSA), to name a few.

Dr. Ramirez’s expertise,  experience, evidence-based focus and trustworthiness have made her one of the go-to experts for anti-aging and aesthetic medicine. For the past several years, Dr. Ramirez has shared tips on beauty, aging gracefully, and efficient ways of taking care of the skin.

In various media stories and articles, Dr. Sylvia offered recommendations and professional opinions regarding anti-aging, trends in medical aesthetics, non-surgical procedures, and many more. She has been featured in Vogue Singapore, Harper’s Bazaar Singapore, Expat Living, Business Times, and others.

In addition, Dr. Sylvia has also been named one of Asia’s Most Stylish individuals in Singapore. She was recognized for being impeccably dressed while also making others look flawless and feel their best as an aesthetic doctor.

General Medicine

After completing her training in Paediatric Nephrology at the Children’s Hospital in Boston, Harvard Medical School and obtaining a Masters in Public Health at the Harvard School of Public Health, Dr. Ramirez was Assistant Professor at National University of Singapore. At the same time, she developed and implemented a comprehensive approach to the prevention of kidney and related diseases.

Dr. Sylvia Ramirez’s international expertise in the fields of renal disease prevention and population-based programs was further enhanced after establishing a national kidney disease and diabetes prevention program for both the adult and paediatric populations in Singapore. Dr. Ramirez has also chaired the First International Summit on Prevention of Kidney and Related Diseases (Singapore), and has chaired other international scientific congresses.

Dr. Ramirez has also served as Project Director for multiple health policy projects in the United States. She is also a principal investigator for an international study in 19 countries looking at improving practice patterns in providing chronic disease care.

With the background of academic medicine, chronic disease and population-based care, and based on her numerous scientific publications, Dr. Ramirez recognized the importance of making a difference at the individual patient level.

With her extensive academic background in clinical care and in developing quality performance measures in various health care settings, Dr. Ramirez believed that there was an opportunity to provide evidence-based services in the field of aesthetic and age management medicine.
