Rosacea and Couperose

Couperose skin is the presence of capillaries, bright red in colour winding delicately through the tissues around the nose, cheeks and chin. They are caused by climate conditions and harsh weather, person's lifestyle, hereditary and skin type.

Couperose occurs due to poor elasticity and poor micro-circulation.Though Couperose is typically hereditary, living in to extreme temperatures may increase the possibility of developing this condition. Consistent exposure to extreme heat, cold and severe winds gradually thin the skin. In addition, the elderly are equally prone due to the thinning of skin over time.

Rosacea is a chronic skin condition involving inflammation of the cheeks, nose, chin, forehead or eyelids. Skin affected by rosacea can also be couperose, however with rosacea you also get an acne-like appearance of lumps and bumps.

The recommended treatments depend on various factors (social downtime, urgency to address concerns and budget) and will be discussed during consultation.
